Kacy began journey with climbing during her last semester of college when some friends invited her up to the Red River Gorge. Having not ever climbed before, she had no intention of doing so. If you can imagine, day one she is at the crag borrowing gear from friends and has caught the 'climbing bug'
She quickly returns to Miguel's Pizza that evening (also a gear shop) to buy her own necessities to climb the rest of the week.

Kacy has always had a deep passion for climbing outdoors. She was spoiled by her first experience to be on rock and not plastic like many climbers.
Upon graduating college with an undergraduate degree in Psychology, she was hired on here at Escalade as a Climbing Instructor.
Here she started the Climbing Club and began her work with Youth Team when it was only a seedling.

Since then, she has extensive experience coaching climbers in the competition and recreational setting since 2014.
With Escalade, she has guided multiple climbers to the National Level of USA Climbing and continues to do so each season.
Kacy firmly believes in using climbing as a tool for personal growth and has applied much of this philosophy while helping to develop the Escalade Climbing Team.

Since falling in love with climbing, Kacy has re-defined what success means to her and she also hopes that she can facilitate this process with the youth.
She views the sport to offer empowerment to all ages, confidence, mental stamina, body awareness, stewardship, and a sense of pride. Kacy always pushes for participation in trail days, camp-outs, and outdoor climbing trips where she feels much of the cohesiveness of the team is built.

Through her years here, she has worked diligently to help shape Team Escalade to what it is today.  Kacy truly enjoys the challenge that a growing program offers- a constant need for re-evaluation of success and tools available to the coaches.

For the future, she hopes to have her Single Pitch Instructor through the AMGA (American Mountain Guide Association) and develop female empowerment curriculum for adolescent girls through the mode of climbing.
